Cathedral City of Salisbury
Salisbury is one of the most beautiful cathedral cities in Britain. Home to one of four original copies of Magna Carta, the Cathedral with its famous spire, stands at the heart of the city. The surrounding countryside inspired the paintings of Constable and the writings of Thomas Hardy and Izaak Walton, as well as the prehistoric Stonehenge – the iconic, ancient World Heritage site that has mystified and amazed for thousands of years.
Stonehenge
The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is one of the wonders of the world. What visitors see today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC.
There has always been intense debate over quite what purpose Stonehenge served. Certainly, it was the focal point in a landscape filled with prehistoric ceremonial structures, now a World Heritage Site.
Wilton House
Wilton House is home to the 17th Earl of Pembroke this beautiful historic house, one of the treasure houses of England. Set in 21 acres of magnificent landscaped parkland. The house is home to a world famous art collection, situated in spectacular state rooms that have been used for filming scenes from Mrs Brown and Sense and Sensibility.

Longleat Safari park is a superb day out, a Passport ticket means that you could visit on more than one day of your stay at Kite Cottage to make sure you enjoy all it has to offer, from boat trips round Gorilla Island with a seal escort, to driving among the giraffe, zebra and monkeys too if you are brave enough!
A train ride opens up more of the estate and the house and gardens are simply stunning.
Old Sarum
Old Sarum was originally a huge iron hill fort. Old Sarum was later occupied by the Romans and Saxons and finally by the Normans who built the Castle, Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Only in the 13th century was the Cathedral moved to its current location.
Avebury
Avebury Avebury is the largest stone circle in the world: it is 427m (1401ft) in diameter covers an area of some 28 acres. A great ring of 98 sarsen slabs enclosing two smaller circles of 30 stones each and other settings and arrangements of stones.
The New Forest
The New Forest is a former royal hunting area in the south of England. It was created in 1079 by William I (known as William the Conqueror) as a hunting area, principally of deer.
It is a unique area of historical, ecological and agricultural significance, and retains many of the rural practices conceded by the Crown in historical times to local people. Principal of these is the pasturing of ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys in the open Forest by local inhabitants known as commoners. The New Forest has also been an important source of timber for the Crown.
It is an outstanding recreational area for walking and riding. It has recently been designated a National Park.
The City of Bath
Bath and the stunning countryside surrounding it is one of England's most beautiful places to visit.
